| Heart-attack letter should stir sympathy, action
Thank you Marilynn Lanig for your recent letter to the editor titled, "Don't Downplay Chest Pain," which advocated everyone to be vigilant when it comes to signs of chest pain. Her son recently died of a heart attack at age 45. By mid morning, at least three comments had been posted online in response to the column; two described additional heart attack victims in their mid 40s. It's hard to medicine to swallow the fact that heart attacks don't only hit people in their 50s, 60s, 70s; smokers; couch potatoes; and diabetics. They hit young people, old people, nonsmokers, smokers, athletes, couch potatoes, thin folks and heavy folks of both sexes. No one is immune to death due to heart attack. But there are three things everyone can do to minimize their risk of death due to heart attack.
Super Snap: Super Bowl Sponsors
Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Brian Urlacher won't be the only big names involved in Super Bowl XLI. Before, during and after the game on Feb. 4, sponsors will put their names and brands on a range of events, contests and prizes, looking to draw more attention from fans. PepsiCo Inc. may be the busiest sponsor. The soft drink maker will lend its name to the halftime show and a series of concerts the night before the game. Diet Pepsi, the league's official soft drink, also sponsors the Rookie of the Year award, which will be presented Thursday afternoon. In its Super Can contest, PepsiCo is also offering lifetime Super Bowl tickets and a $100,000 prize. Home Depot Inc. will sponsor a theme park next to Dolphin Stadium. The NFL Experience Built by Home Depot will include games, entertainment, football clinics, autographs and a football card show.

No Malfunction as Prince Rocks Halftime
Phew! CBS got through the halftime show without a "wardrobe malfunction." The Artist Formerly Known as a Munchkin of Wardrobe Dysfunction began by singing "Let's Go Crazy," but he didn't. Prince, who became a Jehovah's Witness in the mid-1990s, no longer wears yellow, butt-baring pants as he did at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards (prompting Howard Stern's send-up at the '92 VMAs). The closest thing to a fashion statement Sunday night was an odd kerchief on his head. So the NFL had no repeat of the 2004 Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake show, which happened the last time CBS broadcast the game. .
